About UsOne for Ellis County was birthed out of the heart of Senior Pastor Scott Wilson and the people of The Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak who have a deep love for the people in the communities of Ellis County and a desire to serve them. In her role as Community Relations Pastor, Andrea Lathrop got to know the various humanitarian organizations in the area. She was constantly touched and moved by the selfless dedication of those who give of themselves day-in and day-out at these places to help their neighbors who need hope, encouragement and help. This initiative was initially launched as a way to provide an avenue of communication about causes & make opportunities to serve available to The Oaks Fellowship's congregation.
On June 7, 2009, One for Ellis County was officially launched at the first One for Ellis County fair where 20 humanitarian organizations came together to make a connection with the more than 2500 people who attend The Oaks. Following a powerful message by Pastor Scott about the importance of people coming together as one to love and serve one another, the people got to celebrate what the men and women of each organization do as they paraded across the stage during a moving "cardboard" testimony time. Following the service, everyone had the opportunity to get up close and personal with each organization at their individual tables. Strategic connections were made that day. Many signed up to help and volunteer. Click here to see some of the highlight photos from the One for Ellis County fair.
Since then, we've seen thousands served and hundreds of people connect and build meaningful relationships while serving together.
As many of us continue to experience challenges and difficulties during this tough economic time, Pastor Scott Wilson and the One for Ellis County team was compelled to launch the Gift of Hope campaign - to bless 20,000 people throughout Ellis County with Hope Packages as a resource of hope, encouragement and help.
